Description
Taxus brevifolia, also known as the Pacific yew, has a significant medicinal use in the form of the anticancer drug paclitaxel (Taxol), originally extracted from its bark. Paclitaxel is used to treat various cancers, including ovarian, breast, and lung cancers, as well as Kaposi’s sarcoma. Beyond paclitaxel, other Taxus species have been traditionally used for various ailments, including cough, fever, pain, and as a potential treatment for diphtheria and tapeworms.
