Description
Myristica fragrans (nutmeg) has long been a highly desired spice. In the seventeenth century physicians claimed that a nutmeg pomander was a cure for the bloody flux and the sweating sickness, later called the black plague, and nutmeg was also supposed to have aphrodisiac properties.
