Centella asiatica, commonly used as a medicinal herb in Ayurvedic medicine, traditional African medicine, and traditional Chinese medicine, contains pentacyclic triterpene derivatives, which are potentially hepatotoxic. Liver damage has been reported to be associated with Centella asiatica consumption.
