Berberis aristata (Berberidaceae), commonly known in Hindi as “Dāruhaldhi” and “Citra” is spinous herb native to mountainous parts of Northern India and Nepal. These shrubs are distributed throughout the Himalayas, it is also found in Southern India in Nilgiri hills and also in Sri Lanka.
