Robinin is a flavonoid glycoside that has anti-inflammatory and anti-tumor properties. It is used in the treatment of kidney disease and experimental arthritis. Robinin may also be used in the treatment of pancreatic cancer.
Uses of Robinin
Anti-inflammatory: Robinin can reduce inflammation in experimental arthritis when combined with methotrexate.
Anti-tumor: Robinin can inhibit the proliferation of pancreatic cancer cells.
Anti-cardiotoxic: Robinin can reduce the cardiac toxicity caused by doxorubicin.
Anti-oxidant: Robinin can improve lipid peroxidation in heart tissue.
Bone loss prevention: Robinin can prevent bone loss caused by ovariectomy.
Plants that contain Robinin Astragalus falcatus, Pueraria hirsuta L. (kudzu vine), Vinca erecta, Astragalus shikokianus, and Vigna unguiculata.
