Unani Medicine

Unani medicine is a traditional healing system of Graeco-Arabic origin, based on principles of balance among the four elements (air, fire, water, earth) and four temperaments (sanguine, phlegmatic, bilious, melancholic) to maintain health. Developed in the Arab and Persian world from Greek teachings by physicians like Hippocrates and Galen, it spread to India and is now considered one of the Indian systems of traditional medicine. Treatments involve dietotherapy, regimental therapies like exercise and massage, and pharmacotherapy using herbal, animal, and mineral-based compounds to restore balance.
